Tail Construction

The horizontal stabilizer is the trickiest part of the tail to form, being made out of 7/8x .049 tubing. That's some pretty serious pipe to try and bend in an aluminum conduit bender, but with a lot of leverage I got the job done without breaking anything, although I was a little sore for a few days afterward–it seems to take some wierd muscles to get the right pressure. In these picture you can see the plans-type hinges. Also the lower picture shows the rudder horn, the rear tailspring bracket and the rear lower tail-wire bracket.

The elevator horn get a piece of sheet steel welded into the bottom to make a well, which will have lead melted into it for static balance.
